My Week in Books (1)

This is my first EVER My Week in Books inspired by Belle of the Literati and countless of others. It’s a weekly meme where we showcase the wonderful book finds within that particular week.

It honestly has been an epic week with books and authors for me. At the beginning of the week I went bargain hunting at Goodwill and snagged some really great YA gems. Some of which I’m sending to Anna and are in a box. Yesterday, I went to YAllapollooza where I nabbed myself some more books and met their wonderful authors. I’m kinda still on cloud 9! They were all so down to earth, funny, and incredibly intellectual. Plus, I just couldn’t help myself from buying. We all know I have a problem. Step 1 is admitting it, right?

Okay! So I will stop rambling now and without further ado, I present you with my weekly finds!

Bought/Given

My Week in Books - 1

Really big pile here as you can see. I couldn’t help myself. Bought a book from each of the authors that were at YAllapollooza except two because I had to choose and it pained me. Anyways, on to the books!

I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder

I have been wanting to read another book by Schroeder ever since I read Chasing Brooklyn. Her work is different than what I normally read as it’s written in verse but I am incredibly excited to devour this book in a couple of hours!

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters by Ben H. Winters and Jane Austen

Ever since I read Pride & Prejudice and Zombies I’ve been wanting to read another great modern twist to a classic tale. I got this one at Goodwill for a buck! And it is in pretty darn good condition.

Shards & Ashes edited by Melissa Marr and Kelly Armstrong

A huge thank you to Nancy Holder for giving me (and Rachel) this ARC copy!  I haven’t read an anthology in ages and can’t wait to sink into some dystopian short stories written by Veronica Roth, Carrie Ryan, and so many others!

Pandora by Anne Rice

I read this book years ago and was lucky to find a great copy of it at Goodwill for two bucks. I’m slowly trying to collect all of her books and so far I’ve been scoring at thrift stores.

Unleashed by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie

Haven’t read a good werewolf book in…well, let’s just say it’s been awhile. I can’t wait to read this soon! Nancy and Debbie are brilliant writer’s and have no doubts that their novel won’t be up to par.

The Infects by Sean Beaudoin

I’ve been in need of a good zombie book and started reading this last night. Let me just say that it’s very different from what I normally read and fast-paced. Plus, it’s laced with witty humor and blood. Good stuff.

Revived by Cat Patrick

The cover for this is beautiful and mysterious! It’s what pulled me in, calling me to buy it. I mean, who has ever read a story about a girl part of a government experiment and (because of that experiment) keeps on dying only to be revived again? Umm…not me. That’s for sure. So excited to read this too!

Sweet Shadows by Tera Lynn Childs

After reading Sweet Venom, (which you can check out my review here) I’ve been dying to read it’s sequel! I mean, Tera leaves us with a massive cliffhanger! I must know what happens to Grace, Gretchen, and Greer! Not to mention, their semblance of romance 🙂

The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson

This is about a boy who finds out that he is linked to mystery of Atlantis. How cool is that? Just that simple aspect drew me in. I honestly can’t wait to delve into this book and it’s mysterious secrets. Add that to it’s unique and creative plot and I think I’ve got a good read ahead.

Vampires in Love edited by Rosalind Greenberg

This is another anthology book about….you guessed it: vampires! It has some of my favorite authors short stories like Rachel Caine, Nancy Holder, and last but not least, Anne Rice. Got this novel at Goodwill for two bucks when it’s original price was 6 bucks more.

Borrowed

This is obviously a haul from the wonderful world that is the LIBRARY! I haven’t been to the library in two years and was incredulous with all the wonderful reads I found. If I could I would have taken WAY more.

My Week in books - 1.5

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

My eight-year-old heart was squealing with joy when I found this on shelf. It’s about Tiger Lily and her adventure with Peter Pan. A modern retelling of a classic tale. Me love! I can’t wait to start reading this and fall in love with Peter myself. Except….that’d be kind of creepy right? O.o

A Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink

Okay, I’m guilty. I honestly don’t know anything about what this book but the cover is gorgeous! I’d been debating about buying a copy for months! It’s about angels and I’m always looking for more books about the godly beings 🙂

Balthazar by Claudia Gray

I’m a HUGE fan of Gray. I’ve read all her books in the Evernight series. With that said, I haven’t read Balthazar even though I’ve been wanting to for months! I’m happy that I found this and can’t wait to start reading it and falling in love all over again with Gray’s wonderful writing and unique world.

Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey

A girl brings back her dead boyfriend by what looks like magic. Who wouldn’t be interested in that story line? Yep. I’m a sucker. And apparently there is another boy who is tossed in the mix! Bring on the heartbreak and hard decisions.

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

Reading Anna Dressed in Blood was like reading something Supernatural-esque. I completely loved it! Girl of Nightmares looks just as good but ten times creeper. I am ready.

It was definitely a HUGE week for me and I am SO excited to start reading all the great finds! First I’ll finish my library pile seeing as I will only have them for 3 weeks! Ahhhh! I apologize for the many books displayed. I know it’s a lot and can be overwhelming. But I’m sure there won’t be a bigger book week than this any time soon! xD

Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening/day! ♥
