Excerpt from When Stars Die

“Yet, even when stars die, they leave a lasting impact through their light, their diamond brilliance as they scatter their material to form new stars. When people die, they leave the same impact with the footprints they leave on people’s hearts. Even the ones who feel insignificant go out, leaving behind dust that can nourish the world anew.”

Goodbye September, Hello October

October. Oh, where has the time gone? It’s finally fall. Finally! I’ve been looking forward to this time of year since summer began. The heat is unbearable here and it’s still pretty hot, but the mornings are now filled with cool breezes.

September was quite a month. Lots of things happened. Good things! For one, my baby brother Matty was born on the 26th. Just a couple of days ago. The days that followed were exhausting. It felt like I had him and I couldn’t imagine what my mother felt like. But she’s happy. We all are! I can’t be near him at the moment as I’m sick and babies are delicate creatures.

Anyways, with the start of a new month comes my monthly favorites! My favorites consist of books, t.v. shows, movies, music, ect. September was a good month as I discovered things I fell in love with all over again!

Favorite Book

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. I have been waiting for over a year to read the highly anticipated sequel to The Raven Boys, and it’s next installment did not disappoint one bit. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC thanks to a friend. He sent me an extra copy he won and I was ecstatic! I devoured The Dream Thieves in a few sittings, completely enthralled in Stiefvater’s world.

The story mostly consisted in Ronan’s p.o.v. and I loved it! I loved getting to know what was in that brooding and dark mind of his. I also loved seeing Blue and Gansey’s relationship blossom. And Adam. ASDFGHJKL. My heart hurt for Adam.

The sequel was pos-it-tute-ly FANTASTIC and I CANNOT wait for the next book already! I need it, like I need air for my lungs!

To check out my full thoughts on the novel, simply click here and read more.

Favorite Music

This month I completely fell in love with Fall Out Boys’ entire Save Rock and Roll album. It’s bloody brilliant! I couldn’t help myself from putting the entire album on repeat and listening to it over and over again. There are two songs that I specifically love, but the entire album is a work of art.

Favorite Movie

Tangled

Everyone who knows me, knows that I’m a kid at heart. There are days when my mother catches me watching a Disney movie and she just shakes her head. What can I say? I have an innocent heart.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, Disney movies have more meaning when we are older. We catch the subtle hints and the aspiring lessons each movie has for it’s audience.

I absolutely love Tangled. It’s not my first time watching it and it definitely is one of my favorite new Disney princess movies. I just love how it’s light, but very deep at the same time. Rapunzel has never known the outside of her tower and all she wants to do is see the lights that escape from the castle on her birthday.

I love her courage and her spastic nature. She makes me laugh and her love interest is great. I could totally fall in love with someone like Eugene a.k.a. Flynn Ryder.

If you haven’t seen this film, I really recommend it! Watch it with your kids, or watch it with friends. There’s always time to be a kid at heart. We need those days sometimes.

Favorite Show

Sleepy Hollow

I’ve only watched the pilot episode but it was SO GOOD. LIKE BLOODY GOOD. It takes a special kind of show to capture my attention within the first 10 minutes. And Sleepy Hollow is that show.

I love how the first episode was action-packed and suspenseful. I jumped a couple of times and was completely captivated by the entire concept of the show. I love lore, I’ve always been fascinated by it and Sleepy Hollow offers me my fix.  I can’t wait to keep on watching because I know this will be one of my addictions favorite new shows this fall!

Favorite Beauty Products

The City Scape Collection

As a Maven member of Julep, I receive montly boxes. In September, I received the BareFace Oil Cleanser, that cleans away dirt, makeup residue, ect. I love the lemon scent and how clean my face feels after. It is oil, so I prefer to use it before bed. I made the mistake of washing my face before work and I felt my face was oily all day. So if you already have oily skin DO NOT USE in the morning, especially if you are going somewhere. Other than that, I really like the product!

I also receive two new nail polishes that I love! One was pure black and the other a metalic orange. They are great for a night out on the town.

I can’t wait for my monthly box for October! I’m always surprised because they are colors I wouldn’t normally choose.

Oh! I also really like the texture of the nail polish. It’s thick and glossy and is best to add a coat of clear polish to give it extra shine.

Favorite Accessory

In tribute to Catching Fire coming out in November I went and bought a recreation of Peeta’s Locket on Etsy. You all know that I’m compulsive when it comes to buying. It’s simmered exponentially, but I like to treat myself once in a while. It makes me feel better. I think shopping is equal to eating chocolate.

I absolutely love this locket and wear it whenever I go out. The amount of detail is exquisite and the locket truly opens! That was an added perk! I don’t usually like gold piece, but this is beautiful. I I’m really hoping that they incorporate the locket in the movie because that was a sweet moment between Katniss and Peeta; a real moment.

The locket is pos-it-tute-ly lovely and I can’t wait to wear it on premiere night for CF!

So those are all my monthly favorites. I know there wasn’t a lot this month, but I honestly haven’t been able to do much. I work a lot. More than I have before, and my days off are holy days. I like to lay in bed and read. That’s my idea of fun 😀

If you have your own monthly posts, let me know! Leave a link below and I’ll be happy to check it out!

September you were nice to me. I hope October is grand!

P.S. The giveaway for a SIGNED copy of The Raven Boys will still be extended until the end of this month.

SYNOPSIS

It’s Round Two of high stakes Love Connection on Olympus, and this time, everything has changed. For Aphrodite, at least.

Ares is on deck, and Aphrodite is nervous. As much as she loves to hook up with him, she doesn’t trust him as far as she could throw him, which isn’t very far. He’s a big dude. They haven’t been together in a very long time, but she can’t resist him. She never could. Even when every part of her screamed that he was a liar.

Ares has a plan to keep Aphrodite, for good this time. He wants to win the game, but he’ll hold back to get what he wants. He’s sitting on a chance that he’s been waiting thousands of years for, and he’ll do what he has to do to convince her to stay forever.

The only thing that could stop him is the secret that he’s been keeping from her for eons. If she finds out, it will destroy everything.

Kat and Dillon have been through a lot, and everything has been to protect their younger siblings. They have sacrificed everything to make sure their brother and sister are safe. The players are tough and loyal. Fierce and determined. But they become each other’s weakness, even though they fight it, and even though it means danger for Kat and her sister.

If Aphrodite can get the players over their egos and issues long enough to see that they’re meant for each other, the competition will be a piece of cake. One that she’ll eat a la mode, right in front of Ares, if she beats him.

TREAD CAREFULLY LOVELIES. SPOILERS MAY LIE AHEAD.

The stakes are higher for Dita as the next round of Love Connection is on against her long time enemy/lover Ares, the God of War. Ares is overly confident and takes what he wants and there is nothing else that he wants than Dita.

The players chosen for this round are Dillon and Kat, who are both very guarded and protective individuals. When they met there is an immediate attraction, but they are scarred after years of loneliness and the need to be strong to let their feelings get in the way of their lifetime goals. But love is love and Aphrodite is determined to win this next round and have Kat and Dillon find solace within one another.

I truly enjoyed this sequel! The premise was the same as in Deer In Headlights, but it was different in many ways involving the characters. We get to see the dysfunctional relationship between Ares and Aphrodite 10x more than we had already known. It was hot, to say the least. All the sexual tension between them would surely start a wildfire. I absolutely loved the flashbacks. It adds insight and is a great way for the reader to have an in-depth realization of the characters.

Then there are Kat and Dillon, who are both loyal and fiercely protective of their siblings. Dillon grew up in an environment where fighting was the only way to protect oneself. He lived in an abusive household where his father was a volatile drunk. Dillon’s father killed his wife and took out his anger on his sons. That kind of turmoil would affect anyone and it certainly affects Dillon. He fears getting close to someone because he doesn’t want to be his father. Hart writes Dillon’s emotions really well. It’s raw and real and made my heart constrict a little. There were times where I just whispered, “No, Dillon,” because I didn’t like the way he was thinking and feel genuinely sad for him.

Kat, on the other hand, is sort of the complete opposite of Dillon. Kat is a badass. She’s a tough girl who doesn’t take bulls*** from anyone. Just as Dillon, Kat is fiercely protective of her sister. Family means everything to Kat, it’s all she has left and nothing will get in the way of her sister’s safety (physical and emotional). Her weakness becomes Dillon as his becomes Kat. In a way, they soften each other and shed the years of wariness they have. I liked that there was an incredible amount of family values in this installment. It was a theme and I do love themes!

Overall, this second installment was AH-MAZING! It exceeded all expectations and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Just as the first book, Snake In The Grass was a unique and fresh take on Greek Mythology. If you love Greek Mythology and don’t mind a modernization twist, then this book is definitely for you!

SYNOPSIS

Isis can control her dreams. Or she could—until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.

A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.

Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?

WARNING: SPOILERS MAY LIE AHEAD. DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU.

After reading the synopsis I thought that this book would be a typical YA book with no originality whatsoever. The blurb just seemed too bland and didn’t really catch my attention. This is a perfect example of a hidden gem. Creatura was more than just a typical YA novel. Aside from the content itself, the writing was great! I really fell in love with the dialogue, granted by David. It was swoon-worthy, okay?

In Creatura, Isis is plagued by nightmares that are too real and forthright frightening. There’s a creature that stalks her dreams and it isn’t until one night that she decides to confront the creature where everything changes.

Love is a major aspect in this novel. Forbidden love. I really liked that it was a central focal point for the novel because 1) I haven’t read a book that was centered around love in a while, and 2) it wasn’t overly cheesy. Isis tries to not like David, who is the creature from her dreams and also turns out to be a thousand year old deity. That kind of information could really put a damper on someone’s relationship. Their love wasn’t instant nor was it normal. It was gradual, which is why I liked it. It was real and probable. Well, as possible as it could get 😛

I also very much liked how Isis set her foot down around David. Where other girls would have completely lost their footing around David, Isis held her ground. She’s a strong girl, especially when it concerned his charm.

One of my favorite things about this novel was the character development. Most (if not all) of the characters were unique in their own right. They flourished and blossomed as the novel progressed. It should be noted that David was one of my favorites, even if he is a tad-bit corny. There’s something about old-timey-wimey speech and character that just makes my heart swoon.

One last aspect of this book that I really enjoyed reading was the family theme centered around both Isis and David. It was real and made me think of the bond I have with my family. That closeness was what made the novel concrete and more than just a story. The emotions and rawness that Cab was able to convey is extraordinary! In part, Cab’s writing is absolutely beautiful. There is never a dull moment. Everything is described beautifully and so fully that I envisioned the scenes playing in my head like a movie.

All in all, I really loved this book. It was different from anything I’ve ever read with just enough romance, mystery, and mythology to spice up any reader’s night! It’s a definite MUST-READ! !!

EXCERPT

In my dreams, he watches me. Haunts me. He’s the cause of my nightmares, and the dread of my nights.

My name is Isis Martin, and I’m seventeen years old. I suffer from a sleeping disorder. After three months,

I’m finding it difficult to function on one or two hours of sleep per night.

Today I’ve got another session with Dr. Jameson. He’s my best friend’s dad and the only psychiatrist in

town. He suggested I start a journal to release my stress and maybe one day I’d be able to sleep again.

He says my recurring dream is only a reflection of my anxiety to sleep, but there’s something that tells me

he’s wrong.

***

I had always been able to control my dreams. I don’t know how, but I could. In my sleep I discovered

worlds that only existed in my imagination. My favorite was a poppy field where the sun rested over the

horizon frozen in time for no one else but me. The meadow with the odd shaped tree that I had named

Infinity was my private haven and my emotional sanctuary. In that far away land, night never came and

day never broke. It was the place where tears did not fall and worries did not exist…until the nightmares

began.

***

“You’re proposing a wager?”

I nodded.

“If I win, you’ll leave my dreams forever,” I said.

He gazed at me for a moment. Maybe it was just my imagination, but I thought I saw trace of a grin on his

face.

“If I should win, you will believe I am not a dream,” David said.

“If you say so,” I snickered. “I guess this is goodbye since I’ll be winning.”

“And…” he said

“There’s more?”

“And…you will never again come here.”

“Okay,” I said. “Fair enough.”

“And…” he said again.

“That’s too many ‘ands’.”

“And…” he continued, “I bid you not farewell, but good morrow.”

David tipped his head as he disappeared, leaving behind a cloud of golden dust.

Author: Elizabeth Sharp

Publisher: 4Corners Press

Release date: August 8, 2011

Rating: 4 stars – I REALLY ENJOYED THIS!

SYNOPSIS

What do you do when you find out your family isn’t your family, death is knocking at your door, and that guy you can’t stop thinking about knows more about who you are than you do? Amelia Hoffman was just a normal 15 year old until she found out the truth. Now ancient myths, supernatural beings, and murder have changed everything. Tests and school dances are no longer the biggest worry in her life– she has to figure out how to save everyone she loves and accept the future in front of her before its too late.

TREAD CAREFULLY. SPOILERS MAY LIE AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

When Amelia Hoffman discovers that she is more than human, things escalate quickly. Supernatural beings begin to surface and a murder plagues a community. Twined with mystery, romance, and heart-pounding action, Natural Selection has everything that I love in YA.

When I picked up Natural Selection, it proved to be more than what I was expecting. The magical creatures that are integrated throughout the novel are endless. For example, her sister is a succubus and her brother is a Djinn, while Amelia is a Gaia. She is a creature of nature and has the ability to heal and work with plants/greenery. I loved that there wasn’t a specific supernatural being. It was different and added to the unique and creative story line that Sharp created.

I really liked Amelia Hoffman. Her character is by far one of the youngest that I have read this year. I remember when I was fifteen and it’s much to the insecurities that Amelia faces. She’s sort of plain, but as the novel progresses she blossoms into a beautiful creature (no pun intended). Her feelings towards a certain boy *cough* her brothers’ best friend *cough* is really sweet. He seems to know more about her than she does. Mysterious, eh?

While we’re on the topic of love, Nathaniel, the love interest, is just so sweet and loyal. I just wanted to hug him. Okay, more like attack bear hug him. But still. His fierce protectiveness over Amelia was by far one of my favorite parts. What can I say? I’m a sucker for romance.

Aside from supernatural beings, there are also witches. But the witches in Amelia’s world aren’t the good guys. It’s also difficult to trust people when enemies turn out to be the unlikeliest of people.

Another thing that I really enjoyed about this novel was the realistic bond between the characters. I loved that strong connection between family. As a reader, you could really see how much Amelia cared for her brother and sister. Her parents as well. Amelia is willing to do anything it takes to save her family. I found that admirable.

Lastly, I really enjoyed Sharp’s writing style. It flowed easily and well, it was just fun to read.

All in all, Natural Selection was a great start to a series. The ending leaves you wanting more! Plus, isn’t the cover absolutely gorgeous?? ^^

SYNOPSIS

Lily is the heir to her father’s family fortune, except she wants no part in it. Especially if it means having to spend months away from her loving mother, being ignored by her genius, yet reclusive father, and tormented by her domineering grandmother.

Since her parent’s divorce, Lily has been forced to spend every summer, bored to death, at her father’s dilapidated estate in England. The one consolation is that this is the last summer she will have to visit before her eighteenth birthday frees her of this obligation. What Lily didn’t expect to find was someone who is just as lonely and out of place as she is. Someone that could make her actually want to stay at the rundown mansion.

Deep in the basement of her father’s home, she finds Adam, who is half human, half machine. He is her father’s latest prototype: a creation built for war, but able to do so much more than just basic fighting tactics and artillery protocol. Lily cannot help but be drawn to her father’s experiment, though she’s certain nothing can come of it. When she realizes that Adam will eventually be taken from her and potentially destroyed, she must decide whether putting her family in jeopardy is worth the risk of helping him escape.

TREAD CAREFULLY DEARIES. SPOILERS MAY LIE AHEAD. DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU.

Okay, is it me, or are my spoiler warnings getting morbid?

*shrugs* *shakes head*

To simply put it, I adored Stephanie Constante’s Pygmalia. It had the right amount of suspense, mystery, and romance. From the moment I picked it up, I was thrust into a world of magic. Lily could care less about the fortune she is to acquire when she comes of age. All Lily cares about is being at her true home with her mother. She dreads spending the summer with her father in a run-down mansion in England. But this summer is different. It’s the last and certainly the most exciting one she’s ever had.

In her father’s basement, Lily finds Adam. A cyborg – per se. With time Lily and Adam form a bound that inevitably leads Lily to make a difficult decision that may jeopardize her family.

I just loved the forbidden romance in this. I mean, c’mon. Who has ever heard of a half-human/half-machine? I certainly have not! Nor, have I ever read of such a thing in existence. I think it’s one of the reasons that I really liked this novel. Why I was completely enthralled with it from the moment I started reading. – I also liked the fact that, even though, their love is doomed (because he was made to be a war machine and she is to go back to America) they both still persist and defy Lily’s father.

I liked Lily’s stubbornness and gall. She had every reason to fear Adam, yet, she knows that he is just as alone as she is and that there is more to him then what he was made for. Then there is Adam who is this machine made for war. He’s strong, but weak at the same time. His weakness is his love Lily – humanity. He goes through great lengths to protect her and to save her. I couldn’t help but like him. A lot. I’m a sucker, okay?

The pacing for the novel was great. There was never a dull moment. The beginning was actually very creepy and dark. Definite brownie points to Stephanie for that factor! I don’t scare easy, but I was a wee bit frightened there for a sec.

Overall, this was a really great book! The story line is original and captivating. I am really excited because this is the first in a series and I cannot wait to see what else Constante has in store for Lily and Adam! Definitely recommend this read for all YA lovers out there.

EXCERPT

It was the guy from the laboratory; he managed to find me, and the panic coursing through my body is enough to send me curling up into a ball, just letting him drag me to whatever hell he came from. I can’t though; I can’t keep from fighting back. I struggle to get his hand loose from around my wrist, but there’s no use. I smack him, push at him, and even punch him in the face, which hurt me more than it appeared to affect him. He’s immovable.

“Please,” I finally resort to pleading with him, “Please don’t hurt me.” I feel more tears streaming down my face; I fall to my knees, covering my mouth to keep from weeping. I don’t even care about dirtying the dress further; it was ruined the second I stepped foot in these woods.

“I have no instructions to hurt you. I’m here to bring you back to your father.” He says plainly. I can barely see his face in the shadows, but I remember those haunting blue eyes.

“What does he want with me?” I say, drying my tears with the back of my hand.

“I don’t know. I have only been told to find you and bring you back.”

“Who are you?”

“I was instructed to keep all information regarding myself and your father classified. Please come with me, or I will have to use force.”

“I thought you said you weren’t supposed to hurt me,” I say.

“I do not need to hurt you to get you to come with me,” I can tell that he’s probably from the London area, based on his accent.

“If I go with you, back to the house, what will happen?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then I think I’ll stay here.”

“The likelihood of your survival out here is scarce. You will only injure yourself further.” I can feel him touching a cut on my arm I got from running into a branch when I first ventured into the woods. His hand is warm, the way a live human person’s would feel against my skin.

“Please come with me,” he says, and holds out something. I grab the objects, realizing they’re my heels.

“You brought my shoes?”

“I thought they might be of use to you.”

“Heels in the forest, in the dark? Not so much useful as they are an accident waiting to happen,” I grumble. “Alright, lead the way. But if you try and hurt me, I’m jabbing this Manolo Blahnik in your eye socket.”

“What is a Manolo Blahnik?” he asks. I can’t see his face, but I’m sure it looks extremely confused. Guys.

“Never mind,” I sigh, “just know that I will do some damage if you try anything.”

“I understand,” he says. As we begin our trek back to the house, I stumble a few times. He grabs my waist before I fall flat on my face, and takes my hand in his; it’s softer than I would have imagined it to be. “This might help,” he says as he triggers something on his hand. A light emanates from beneath his skin, turning it an orangey pink. I pull away from him and point at his hand.

“How did you do that?”

“It’s one of my tools. I don’t need it really, but I suppose you do,” he says holding out his unlit hand to me, while stretching the other in front of him so he can light my way.

“What are you?”

“I am Prototype 78.”

“What does that even mean? That doesn’t tell me anything about you.”

“It’s not supposed to,” he keeps his gaze forward as we walk down the hillside towards the house. We moved silently through, and as we passed the lake, I couldn’t help but feel unnerved by him.

“Are you some kind of alien?”

“I can’t answer that,” his face barely shows any kind of emotion, but there’s something in there; I remember seeing it when I looked into his eyes.

“You were dead,” I press on. “You were dead on that table when I found you, and then you just woke up. So you’re obviously not human. You’re some kind of experiment he’s working on.” He doesn’t respond, so I keep deducing on my own.“You have scars, but they look nothing like what I’d imagine a zombie would look like. You’ve got that light coming out of your hand, and you were able to track me in this darkness. I’m guessing alien.”

“I’m not an alien,” he finally admits.

“Aha!” I jump and point at him. “So you’re an experiment. Like Frankenstein, just not as gross looking.”

“Frankenstein is not the name of the monster; it’s the name of the doctor. The monster never had a name.”

“Are you saying you’re Frankenstein’s monster?”

“I’m not a monster,” he says, except for the first time, there’s sadness behind his words. He looks down at his hand, as if somehow disgusted with himself, but his movements are robotic. Even his affect is flat and unexpressive.

“Fair enough, you’re not a monster,” I say. He looks down at me and seems relieved; he’s not a monster, but he’s definitely not human.

TA DA! !!

AMOF cover

SYNOPSIS

White Carnations – pure love, sweet and lovely.

Daisy – Innocence, beauty, simplicity.

To florist, Georgina Nickols, every flower has a meaning and a purpose. Flowers are something she knows, lives, and breathes. But when they start mysteriously showing up on her porch, she’s unsure of their meaning, and of who is leaving them.

What do these flowers mean to the messenger?

An old friend from high school, Corbin Waylay, moves back to town. When he shows up, he stirs up all kinds of trouble for Georgina. Her life-long friend, SidTrail, hates him and makes that fact clear to Georgina. But despite the warnings from her friend, she just can’t help the feelings that resurface. The feelings she hasn’t felt for anyone since high school graduation, the feelings that only Corbin can induce.

As Corbin moves closer into her life, it causes a rift between her and Sid. The mystery flowers continue to appear and begin to add to the stresses of life.

Love, secrets, pain, and lies surround Georgina, putting her trust to the test.

When the messenger is finally revealed, will the meaning of the flowers be enough to repair the damage of those hidden secrets?

Forget Me Nots – Remember me forever, good memories, hope.

Single Red Rose – I love you.

I like the simplicity of the flower. It’s exact to what symbolism lies inside the pages. I also like how the description kind of intrigued me. It’s not a book I would normally pick up but it sounds like a good book to just lay outside on the grass and read. I’ll definitely have to keep my eyes out for this one!

SYNOPSIS

Everything in my life is perfect. I have a family. My music is now going my way. And I have Stephan. Forever. All my dreams are coming true. But the problem with perfection is that eventually everything falls apart. And my whole life is crumbling around me — piece by piece.

I am just trying to get through the next few months with my sanity intact, but that seems like an impossible feat. I’m back in LA, and this time I’m not alone. Between finding time for my new husband, my mother-in-law that hates me, and putting up with Alec and Bridgett’s bickering, I’m not sure how much more I can take… And then Mona shows up. I am in over my head.

I thought I knew the truth about everything, but I was wrong. Secrets that weren’t supposed to come out are now being discovered. Secrets about my biological father… Even Bridgett is keeping a secret… Something big. I have to know what, even if it means running away again.

I tried for normal — now I know that there is nothing normal about being a rock star.

I think the cover looks nice. It’s sassy and bold, which I love. I also like the fact that there is a guitar on the cover symbolizing the music aspect of the book. It looks like an interesting read and I’ll definitely have to keep my eyes out for it!

How’s that for a definite summary that sparks intrigue? I’m not a fan of books that deal with abuse, but this sounds interesting and good. I absolutely love the synopsis. It’s short and sweet, to the point, and alluring. It just grabs you. Am I right?

The cover also matches the tone of the summary. That’s what I love about it and it’s simplicity.

If you liked what you read, don’t forget to add Let It Be Me on Goodreads!

Goodbye July, Hello August

Lots and lots of news today, huh? August is turning out to be quite a busy month! And it’s barely just beginning!

Currently I am in Anaheim for…VIDCON. I am kind of freaking out right now. So far I have met Conner Franta (who owes me an autograph), saw Ricky Dillon, and met Jack and Finn! Those names may not mean anything but well, it’s a big deal for me! These guys are my ideals and I can’t wait to meet more YouTube guru’s tomorrow!

Anyways, it’s the first day of the month which means….it’s time for a monthly favorites post! My favorites consist of books, t.v. shows, movies, music, ect. July was a great month for discovering music, obsessing over a new show, and trying out different dating sites. Yeah. We won’t talk about that last one. Maybe at a later date.

For now let’s start with one of my favorite topics…

Favorite Book

Pivot Point by Kasie West. This book was most definitely my favorite book for July. The thing I liked most about it was how different it was from any fantasy/sci-fi book I’ve ever read. There was suspense, mystery, and romance. I liked how those who were super human, holding a special ability, were kept in hiding. It kind of reminded me of superhero’s and how their identity was to remain a secret from the public.

West’s writing was beautiful and seemlessly. It’s mainly the reason why I adored this book so much! I also LOVED how the story was told between two different alternate futures. I also loved, loved, loved Addie as the MC. And lastly, I loved one of the two possible love interests. Who it is? Mum’s the word.

As you can see there is a lot of love for this book. I am definitely a Kasie West fan now and can’t wait to read Kasie’s contemporary novel, The Distance Between Us. To read my full thoughts on Pivot Point, check out my review of it here. Who knows, maybe it’ll interest you to go forth and pick up the book!

Favorite Music

Hands down, my favorite song for July is Counting Stars by OneRepublic. It’s bloody amazing!

A close second, favorite song goes to Free Now by Sleeping With Sirens.

Give them a listen and I hope you enjoy! 🙂

Favorite Shows

There is only one show that I was (and still am) obsessed with for July. And that is…

Glee

I never thought that I would have enjoyed Glee as much as I do. I always thought that the show revolved around high school kids just randomly bursting into song. But it’s much more than that. Their singing is gradual and there is a reason when they sing. It’s not just randomly, which I love.

Staying on the topic of music…well, it’s pretty darn amazing and diverse. They play everything from Journey to Rhianna. They do a Grease episode where I just completely died. All in all, music on the show is absolutely perfect.

The actors are PERFECTLY FLAWLESS. I love them all! They are great actors and singers and in my opinion, they grow with every season. They get stronger and realize things about themselves that they did not know. They also each have a story and it may not be the most important plot line, but it’s heart felt. There were several points where I cried. I admit it.

If you haven’t watched Glee or gotten on the band wagon, I say GO DO IT RIGHT NOW! It’s not too late. Promise. It’ll be one of your favorite guilty pleasure shows!

On a last note, the actor who plays Finn Hudson, Chris Monteith, died recently. I want to just take a few moments to offer my deepest condolesences to his family and friends. I also give my thoughts and strength to Lea Michelle who was his fiance and also co-star on the show.

Favorite App

Minion Rush

I am absolutely in love with Minion Rush. It’s my addiction. I LOVE ME MY MINIONS.

If you follow my instagram you’ll see the array of minion pics as of late. I may have a wee bit of a problem.

Okay, back to the game. In my opinion, it’s highly addictive. The object of the game is to get through the level and beat an evil villain like Vector. Through the level you collect bananas and energy coins that you can then use to buy a new minion or boost a specific category.

My favorite part is when the minion becomes a mega minion and he crushes all the other little minions.

Favorite Beauty Products

Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick

I bought this yesterday and I already love it! I grabbed the neutral tone, which is just AMAZING! It’s not too dark or light, but perfect for my skin tone. The lipstick is only $15 at Sephora and is totally worth it.

I’m not a lipstick kind of girl, but I absolutely love, love, love it. Plus, it smells good and has a beautiful shine and softness to your lips. It even stays on for a longer wear still looking fresh and clean.

So that is it for my favorite things in June! I hope that August treats me just as well and makes me happy as a clam! It may even be the month where I snatch a real a boy! Seriously. I apologize in advance if this post is a little rushed. I’m currently typing this hastily as I am going to Downtown Disney for a late dinner with friends!

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! ❤
